Castleton Colborne Optimist Club: Members meet the first Tuesday of the month at the Queen's Hotel and the third Tuesday at the Friendship House. Both meetings start at 7 p.m. The club's motto is "Friend of youth". A major fundraising event is weekly Bingo (in conjunction with the Brighton Lions Club). Colborne Inner Wheel Club meets the second Tuesday of the month at members' homes. They are essentially Ladies of Rotary, but are a separate organization. Members must have a Rotarian in the family. Northumberland Big Sisters Association needs volunteers to help with girls who need guidance and companionship. Big Brothers of Cobourg-Port Hope and District needs volunteers to help with boys who need guidance and companionship. Colborne & Area Community Care is a volunteer organization providing information to seniors and the disabled, as well as transportation, home help, caregiver relief, telephone security checks, social visits, errands, Meals on Wheels, a frozen meal program, Fun and Fitness, Diners' Club and a senior activity centre in Colborne. The Welcome Wagon basket has a civic envelope and gifts from businesses it represents. The Apple Route: Rural countryside, quaint villages and towns, Lake Ontario's inviting shoreline, apple orchards, rolling hills; they're all waiting to be discovered. First Colborne Beavers, Cubs and Scouts are for boys and girls over five years old living in the Colborne and Cramahe Township area. Meetings are held at the Colborne Public School. Colborne Art Gallery, located in the historic Land Registry Office on King Street, is a project of the Colborne Society of Artists. This co-operative Society was founded in the spring of 1997. There are currently 17 members, working in a wide variety of styles. The artists open a new show every six weeks. Heritage Cramahe (LACAC) is a committee of council that meets the fourth Wednesday of the month at Colborne Library at 7 p.m. Their mandate includes the collection, preservation, and protection of the written and architectural history of the community.
