Frances Gage has forged her career over more than 50 years. She graduated from the Ontario College of Art in 1951, and she also studied with the Arts Students League of New York. In addition to busts and portraits in relief, she has created large-scale works, in materials including marble, bronze, and wood. Her studio overlooks Rice Lake, at the northern edge of the Northumberland Hills. Frances Gage is a former member of the Colborne Society of Artists, and the Gallery welcomes her return for this show.

Estonian-born Merike Lugus states, "As William Blake would have it, every one of us is poised between Heaven and Hell, joy and despair, higher aspirations and bodily needs. In my art I explore the discomforts and absurdities as well as the sublime beauty and fragility in this, our human condition. At the moment I am focussing more on our dreams of flying and our desire to transcend."

More information about Merike Lugus is available on her website.
